Technical Lead Platform

NV Play is on a growth trajectory and is seeking a talented individual to provide technical leadership across the Platform team, as we extend our successful elite enterprise focussed business into a globally scalable consumer facing cricket platform.

The Technical Lead Platform role is focused on NV Play’s foundational technology stack, including collaborative scoring and streaming infrastructure, multi-tenancy, identity management and Vision AI. This position ensures the platform remains robust, scalable, and secure, supporting our global operations and enabling innovation across our systems.

Success in this role requires deep technical expertise and a commitment to architectural excellence, as well as driving continuous improvement in performance and compliance.

Key objectives of this role include:

• Lead the development and evolution of NV Play’s scoring, mobile, video and streaming platform and infrastructure. Take direct responsibility for the architecture, implementation and ongoing enhancement of these core technology components, ensuring they are robust, performant and scalable to meet the demands of a global userbase.
• Drive the integration of AI, with a focus on Vision AI, across the NV Play platform. Champion the adoption of advanced AI coding capabilities to enhance product feature delivery and operational efficiency.
• Oversee the maintenance and optimisation of cloud hosting, DevOps practices, observability and overall scalability of the NV Play core platform.
• Ensure that cloud infrastructure is secure, resilient and cost-effective, implementing best practices for continuous integration, deployment, monitoring and incident response, supporting seamless platform operation and future growth.
• Provide direct technical leadership while remaining hands-on in software development, architecture and problem-solving.
• Foster a high-performance engineering culture, guiding and mentoring team members to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
• Work in close partnership with the Technical Lead Product to ensure that platform scalability and security features are fully aligned with both product-led growth initiatives and commercial business objectives.
• Streamline development workflows, encourage best practices, and promote continuous improvement across engineering teams.
• Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration between platform, product, and operational teams to maintain seamless development processes

Close collaboration with the Product Technical Lead is essential to guarantee that product innovations are supported by a stable, secure, and high-performing platform. Together, these roles bridge the gap between infrastructure and user experience, ensuring that technical foundations and product features evolve in harmony to deliver exceptional value to customers.

Your primary responsibilities will be ...

• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Guide, develop, and support engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment. Provide technical coaching and career development opportunities.
• Hands-on Software Development: Actively contribute to coding, system architecture and DevOps processes, ensuring high-quality implementations that align with business objectives.
• Development Process Optimisation: Drive agile practices, including sprint planning and iterative development cycles, to enhance productivity and product delivery timelines.
• Technical Guidance & Decision-Making: Lead architectural discussions, review code, and ensure technical decisions align with industry best practices and long-term platform sustainability.
• Cross-Team Coordination: Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and operations to align development efforts with company goals. Ensure seamless integration between platform and product roadmaps.
• Scalability & Performance Enhancements: Identify performance bottlenecks, optimise infrastructure, and implement scalable solutions to improve system reliability and responsiveness.
• Security & Compliance: Maintain best practices in security, data protection, and regulatory compliance, ensuring platform integrity and resilience.
• Continuous Learning & Innovation: Stay updated on emerging technologies, encouraging knowledge sharing and innovative problem-solving within the development team.
• Technical Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the development lifecycle, ensuring robust solutions and operational continuity.

You will have …

• A deep passion for, or at least a sound understanding of, the game of cricket.
• 5+ years' real world development experience, including 2+ at a team lead level or similar, ideally within a high-growth SaaS, product-led development environment
• a passion for designing robust, well architected cloud software solutions leveraging Microsoft technologies and tools, specifically .NET, SQL Server and Azure
• practical experience working on distributed systems and a deep understanding of industry standard architectural patterns, including how and when to apply them
• experience in leading initiatives to help deepen our DevOps culture, champion automated testing, continuous delivery and streamlined deployments
• a high degree of technical adaptability and versatility, ideally with hands-on experience across all layers of the application stack
• experience in facilitating effective team adoption of AI tooling for discovery and code generation
• real world experience working within an Agile product development teaman excellent communication style, both written and in person, and play well with others
